Please join us in our first daylight Halloween presentation “Nite of the Living Will,” where I will have the opportunity to talk about medical treatment decision-making and advance health care planning. The University of Hawaii’s Elder Law Program has held this presentation annually; and as an Elder Law Attorney, I find this topic particularly important to discuss and share with others as well. At the event, attendees will have the chance to create and execute their own Living Will to help with their own health care decision making. A Living Will details the types of medical treatments you would prefer at the end of life, specifically in terms of life-support treatments. Even though it may be uncomfortable to think about what you would like to happen to you in the event you could not make medical decisions for yourself, it will spare your family the pain and anguish of making life-support decisions without your say. Your doctors and family will be able to use your Living Will as a guide for how to best advocate for you. This event is free and open to the public (snacks and drinks included). I look forward to meeting with you and answering any questions you may have.
